EAC India published a report at the 69th Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting in Mumbai

Through extensive research and real-world case studies from industry leaders, we explore the answers that are reshaping India's manufacturing landscape. Prepared by EAC International Consulting in partnership with IGCC, the report examines India's energy transition landscape and its implications for the manufacturing sector, that was presented by: Mr. Ketan Jadhav, Partner, EAC India.
India's energy story is one of remarkable growth and mounting challenges. As India is experiencing rapid infrastructure transformation, energy-intensive sectors such as steel, cement, and power continue to grow, with the industrial sector alone accounting for nearly 40% of electricity consumption. This trajectory is further accelerated by the rise of a service-based economy and the exponential expansion of data centers, which are projected to increase their power consumption by up to 20% annually.
With the industrial sector consuming 42% of total electricity, the imperative is clear: a fundamental shift towards alternative green energies is essential to reduce dependence on coal-generated electricity, that will significantly decrease carbon footprints, to achieve net-zero targets.
India's growing reliance on natural gas represents a strategic and pragmatic approach to balance rising energy demand with environmental commitments. Our research uncovered a transformative trend: renewable energy usage in Indian manufacturing plants is on a rapid growth trajectory.
However, our research also reveals that success in increasing the renewable energy mix depends on critical enablers: integrated policy support, infrastructure readiness, innovative technologies, robust financing mechanisms, and collaborative industrial ecosystems aligned with sustainability imperatives and cost competitiveness.
The report features in-depth case studies from five pioneering organizations that opened their doors to share their energy transition journeys:
- Hirschvogel Components India Private Limited
- NRB Bearings
- Siemens Limited
- Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited
- Webasto Roof Systems India Private Limited
Their experiences provide invaluable roadmaps for other manufacturers embarking on similar journeys.
The report unveiling at the 69th IGCC Annual General Meeting brought together distinguished dignitaries in an atmosphere of collaboration and forward-thinking dialogue. The evening exemplified the strength of Indo-German partnership, united by shared commitments to innovation, sustainability, and strategic industrial evolution.
We express our deepest gratitude to all participating organizations that dedicated valuable time to provide impactful insights. Their willingness to share both successes and challenges has been instrumental in creating this comprehensive study.
