De-Risking China - Identifying and Reducing Risks in Business with China
In July, the German government published its first comprehensive China strategy. In this paper, the government emphasizes that cooperation with China is and will remain important. At the same time, however, it calls on the German economy to reduce its dependence on the People's Republic and to place the national economic and social interest at the center of its actions.
What does this mean for German companies?

On 14 September, the event "De-Risking China - Identifying and Reducing Risks in Business with China" organised by Chinaforum Bayern e.V. took place.
Uwe Haizmann, Partner EAC - International Consulting, highlighted the current challenges & opportunities in doing business with China in the beautiful rooms of the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie. Using real-life examples, he explained which entrepreneurial measures German companies can take to hedge risks in the People's Republic and take advantage of new opportunities.
Rainer Burkardt, Managing Director of Burkardt & Partner Rechtsanwälte , then presented ways in which German SMEs can mitigate contractual and corporate law risks when doing business with China.
There was great interest in the topic and so the participants continued their lively discussions during the dinner that followed.
Many thanks to Chinaforum Bayern e.V. and Stefan Geiger for the successful event.
